Portable Appliance Testing is a procedure to maintain Electrical Equipment to prevent danger as far as reasonably practicable.
All Electrical equipment whether permanently connected or connected by a plug should be inspected and tested in accordance with the recommendations within the Code of Practice.
Initially a visual inspection is carried out.
A visual inspection will highlight:
- Damaged plugs, such as Damage, overheating, burn marks or discolouration.
- Damaged Appliance Casing, Cracks or Splits
- Damaged wires/flexes
- That the plug is correctly wired.
- That the fuse is correctly rated.
Depending on the class of the equipment, the Appropriate Electrical Safety Tests will be carried out with one of our Apollo Range of Seaward Testers.
A Label will be Applied to the Appliance and/or Cable with a Pass or Fail
A Full Report and Register with be Provided after all Testing is Completed this can be either a Digital, Hard Copy or Both
